Route 664 Wintergreen, VA 22958 p: 804.325.8250 Website This resort was named to "GOLF Magazine's" 1996 list of "Silver Medal Resorts." The Devils Knob Course was built atop a mountain and provides views of both the distant Blue Ridge Mountains and the Piedmont Foothills. At an elevation of 3,850 feet, it is the highest course in the state. The small greens are undulating, and the narrow fairways are tree lined. The Monocan/Shmokin (also known as Stoney Creek) Course requires shots over streams and Lake Monocan. The scenery is breathtaking because views of the surrounding mountains may be seen in the distance. "Golf Digest" rated The Stoney Creek Course 34th among "America's 75 Best Resort Courses" and 71st in the category of the "Top 75 Upscale Courses" for 1996. In addition, it was rated as the 2nd "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996. In the category of "Best in State," the same publication named it 6th best for the years 1995 through 1998. |
