22512 Clubhouse Ridge Bristol, VA 24202 p: 540.645.6951 Website This course had the unique chore of hosting the state amateur championships for both Tennessee and Virginia in 1997. Tom Fazio's design makes each nine completely distinct from the other. The rolling hills provide some elevated tee boxes more typical of courses at higher elevations. The front nine features many tree-lined fairways, plus water hazards frequently coming into play. The back nine plays over plateau-like terrain which is higher in elevation than the rest of the property. ''GOLFWEEK'' rated it 53rd on its list of "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" for 1998 and 84th for 1999. The plush fairways are wide open, and the greens are large and fast. The signature hole is #8, a 210-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot to a green guarded on the left by a natural artisan well. The course also has three practice holes. "Golf Digest" rated this as the 2nd "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and the 4th best for 1997-98. The green fees indicated are for when playing unaccompanied by a club member, but still as their guest. The actual guest green fees while playing with a member cannot be released for publication. The 5,885-yard men's tee also has a ladies' course rating of 72.0 and a slope of 116. |
