Golden Eagle Drive Irvington, VA 22480 p: 804.438.5501 This resort features an outstanding eighteen hole regulation course (the Golden Eagle) and a nine hole executive course. The Golden Eagle Course has been the site of several Virginia State Amateur tournaments and was host to the inaugural Women's Trans National Senior Four-Ball Tournament. This course can be a real test from the back tees, but the variety of tee boxes will afford the less than experienced golfer an enjoyable round. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the7th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996, and also rated it as the 14th "Best in State" course for 1997-98. "GOLF Magazine" refers to this course as the "Toughest Course No One's Ever Heard Of." Water hazards come into play on several holes. The signature hole is #5, a 463-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot up a sharp dogleg fairway (featuring a "it's farther than it looks" carry, measuring between 80 to 200 yards). This is a course you'll never get tired of playing. The Executive Course, a nine hole par 3 course, is complimentary for all guests of the resort, but closed to the public. This course can be challenging because some holes measure over 170 yards. However, the fairways are open and there are no water hazards. The scorecard for the Executive Course doesn't show handicaps for individual holes. Ladies tee off from the same set of tees as the men. This resort will accept the Virginia State Golfers Association Discount Card, and golf packages are available. Tee time reservations may be made up to 365 days in advance if you are staying at the resort. For tee time reservations or more information call (804) 438-5501. The telephone number for the Executive Course is (804) 438-4454. |
