It was the first organized golf club in North America when it was formed in 1873. The club is an established, exclusive golf club that is rich in tradition and history. Only club members and guests of members may play here and guest play is limited to certain times and availability. The club includes two regulation eighteen hole courses and a nine hole practice course. The Blue Course has hosted the Canadian Open. Score Magazine has rated this among the top 5 most challenging golf courses in Canada for 1996. The signature hole is #16 on the Blue Course, a 444-yard, par 4, which requires a tee shot into an always prevailing wind. The fairway is well bunkered and has many water hazards.
