615 Ocean Avenue Cedarhurst, NY 11516 p: 516.569.3445 This club has a Scottish links-style course. The terrain is very flat, but there is some fairway mounding that can cause uneven lies, and the rough is extremely high. The front nine plays straight out to the furthest point away from the clubhouse; the back nine returns to the clubhouse. This club was originally founded in 1878, but the course was expanded and redesigned in 1919 by Devereaux Emmet. Since that time, the course has been remodeled by A. W. Tillinghast in 1933, Perry Maxwell in 1946, then by his son J. Press Maxwell in 1955, and was further remodeled by Brian Silva in 1985. This club was recognized by "GOLF Magazine" in their 1995 list of "The First 100 Clubs in America." |
