600 Spruce Brook Rd Berlin, CT 06037 p: 860.828.7696 Website Located a short drive south of Hartford, Pistol Creek Golf Club is an eighteen-hole semi-private facility that opened for play September 2001. This traditionally styled course was inspired by the designs of Donald Ross. Pistol Creek can be visually intimidating, but the course plays fair and at 6,586-yards, is not an overly lengthy track. The front and back nines differ slightly. Whereas the front is generally flat and plays through the lowlands, the back approaches elevation changes of nearly 50-feet in some areas. The fairways are a mix of open an tree-lined, and the large greens (average 6,500 square-feet) have good movement and stimp at about 9 to 9.5. Water in the form of wetlands comes into play on six holes. Pistol Creek plays from 5,497 to 6,586-yards, and depending on the hole, there are up to six sets of tees available. The course will prove challenging for all skill levels from novice to pro, yet was designed with the 10 to 25 handicapper in mind. Walking is allowed only when accompanied by a caddy. Pistol Creek is a limited round course. A maximum of 29,000 rounds per season are allowed, guaranteeing each golfer who plays there a game at the "traditional pace" of about 4.5 hours for eighteen holes. The public can arrange tee times seven days in advance while members can make reservations up to fourteen days in advance of play. Pistol Creek boasts the largest practice facility in Connecticut, and will be home to the T. J. Tomasi Golf Academy. T. J. Tomasi is a GOLF MAGAZINE "Top 100 Teacher".
