134 South Nokomis Avenue Nisswa, MN 56468 p: 218.963.0001 Website This resort, named to "GOLF Magazine's" 1996 list of "Silver Medal Resorts," features three nine hole courses that are played in three eighteen hole combinations, as well as two other eighteen hole championship courses and another nine hole course, the Garden. The Deacon's Lodge Course opened in 1999 and is hailed by many critics as being Arnold Palmer's finest design. The course is set amongst three wilderness lakes, wetlands and beautiful forest. The feel of the course, due in part to numerous waste bunkers, is deemed as being similar to that of Pine Valley. The Preserve Course opened in 1996 and offers rolling hills, fourteen elevated tees and forty acres of wetlands on its 240-acre layout. The design requires fourteen downhill tee shots and seventy-five feet of elevation changes. The Marsh Course plays around a large marshland area. The resort's signature hole is #7 on the Lakes Course, a 152-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot over water to a green framed in the rear by large timbers. Hole #5 on the Lakes Course, a 356-yard, par 4, requires a blind shot over water to the green. Hole #16 on Woods Course, a 400-yard, par 4, is very picturesque and requires a downhill shot to an elevated green. Most of the greens on all three combinations are large. From one of the windows in the clubhouse, there is a great view of the waterfall on the Woods Course. Beautiful views of the countryside are available on all of the resort's courses. "GOLF Magazine" awarded the Lakes/Woods Course 86th among the "Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S." for 1998. The Bill Skelley School of Golf is located on the premises during the summer.
