3750 Olivas Park Drive Ventura, CA 93001 p: 805.485.5712 Website Originally built in the 1960's, Olivas Park is a challenging parkland golf course located less than 1/2 mile from the Pacific Ocean. The original design by Bill Bell (designer of the beautiful Riviera Country Club) was trimmed to 18 holes after coastal floods destroyed most of the course in 1969, yet the beautiful "Gold Coast" weather and afternoon ocean breezes help to make Olivas Park still one of the most popular golf courses. With twenty-five stalls on the driving range, two practice putting greens and a pitching green, Olivas Park has not only earned the reputation of an excellent practice facility, but has been voted "The Best Public Golf Course in Ventura County" for seven consecutive years by readers of the Ventura County Sun. EAGL and the City of Ventura have teamed up to build a new course at the existing location of Olivas Park in November of 2004. With Forrest Richardson as the design architect for the project, the new Olivas Golf Links is a promising bet to become one of the premier municipal courses in California. |
