The Nantucket Golf Club, located on the island of Nantucket, is a heathlands course that presents a variety of challenges. Due to the proliferation of fairway sand bunkers, and the native grassland rough, this course demands accuracy off the tee. The naturally rolling terrain contributes to the tight play of the fairways, and the moderately undulating greens are complimented by an abundance of sand bunkers. Strong winds, common to Nantucket, add another dimension of difficulty. Nowhere is this more evident than on hole #7, a 471-yard, par 4. The buffeting headwinds and deep fairway bunkers to the left, call for thoughtful shot selection. This is an extremely challenging course that has a high risk and reward factor and never plays the same way twice. "Golf Digest" ranked this course #1 on its list of "Best New Private Courses" for 1998. "Golf Magazine" chose it 57th on its 1999 list of the "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." Power carts are only available for individuals with a physical disability.
