Lyman Road Route 157 Middlefield, CT 06455 p: 860.349.8055 Website This club has two outstanding eighteen hole courses. The Jones Course plays extremely long and has undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on nine holes. The signature hole is #12, a 516-yard, par 5, requiring a tee shot up a dogleg left fairway that bends around a lake, then an approach shot to a small, well-bunkered green protected by marshlands. You may walk the Jones Course, but you must ride on the Player Course. The Player Course is a shotmaker's delight. There are many mounds that can cause uneven lies, and a thick cut of rough defines the fairways. This course has three distinct types of terrain: the ravine holes, the orchard holes, and the meadow holes. The greens are relatively flat, but the fairways are hilly. There are water hazards coming into play on several holes. The signature hole is #3, a 395-yard, par 4, requiring a shot over a ravine, measuring seventy-five feet in depth, to a green protected by a creek in front and two sand bunkers on the right. "Golf Digest" rated the Jones course as the 8th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996. This club hosts the Women's State Amateur, which is played on the Jones Course. Yardage distance finders are available for rent. Senior discounts are available on weekdays only. The Chuck Cook Golf Academy is located on the premises. |
