Open July 2001, The Glen Club is the latest addition, courtesy of Tom Fazio, to the Chicago golf scene. This par 72 course measures 7,255 yards from the back tees. Located in the heart of Chicago's North Shore, just 20 minutes from downtown Chicago and O-Hare International Airport, The Glen Club will provide 18 holes of championship golf on 180 acres of what was the Glenview Naval Air Station. The course is constructed on this former airfield, and tons of dirt were sculpted to create the 35 feet of elevation changes. The result is a rolling parkland style course, with several views of the downtown Chicago skyline. The greens are medium sized and fast. Both the greens and tees are planted with the G2 Bermuda hybrid, which can be cut extremely low, making the greens quite fast. Water comes into play on 7 holes. The club facilities include a 50,000 square foot clubhouse, which will serve as the home of the Illinois PGA and the Illinois Golf Hall of Fame. Corporate memberships are available.
