One Choctaw Trail Philadelphia, MS 39350 p: 601.663.0011 This resort features two eighteen hole courses. The original Azaleas Course has several water hazards to avoid and is a very typical Tom Fazio design. Only members, guests of members or overnight guests at the nearby resort are able to play this course. "GOLF Magazine" selected the Azaleas Course 63rd in its 1998 category of the "Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S." "GOLFWEEK" selected it 71st among "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" for 1999. The second eighteen hole course, the Oaks, was completed in March of 1999. This, like the original course, is typical of a Fazio/Pate course. There are many elevation changes throughout, with natural grass areas along the way. The greens are large, undulating and fast. All of the fairways cut through a piney forest. Overall, this course has a North Carolina foothills look. "Golf Digest" selected the Azaleas Course 6th on its list of "Best New Upscale Public Courses" for 1998. |
