Designed by the famed master golf course architect Donald Ross, Crotched Mountain Golf Club is truly a New England classic. Some seventy five years ago, Donald Ross arrived in the small village of Francestown, New Hampshire. He came to survey the land and determine just where he might build another of his increasingly popular signature golf courses. He was still riding high from the success of Pinehurst, a course of his design which had recently been named one of the best in the country.

From the gently rolling farmland surrounding where Crotched Mountain Resort & Spa lies today, Ross proceeded to continue his legacy by adding another signature course to his list of successes. The original Mt. Crotched Golf Club, established 1929, is now Crotched Mountain Golf Club and while once existing as a 9 hole course, today is a par 71, 18 hole championship course. The new back nine, renovated as recently as 1992, and annually improved thereafter, has been constructed and maintained to preserve Ross' original design principles.
