2825 Lander Road Pepper Pike, OH 44124 p: 216.831.9252 This club was established in 1889 and recognized by "GOLF Magazine" in their 1995 list of "The First 100 Clubs In America." This private course is somewhat hilly and has an extremely high cut of rough. Locals say the fairways are "narrow-to-tight," having been cut through a countryside setting. The superintendent maintains the course in meticulous condition. A creek comes into play on seven holes, and a large pond comes into play once. The greens are generally small, sloped, undulating, and described as "definitely not flat." William S. Flynn and Howard Toomey redesigned the original holes and added some new ones in 1931. "GOLFWEEK" selected the course 71st among "America's 100 Best Classical Courses" for 1998. "GOLF Magazine" rated it 89th among the "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." for 1995, and 95th in 1997. "Golf Digest" also rated it as the 9th "Best in State" course from 1995 through 1998. |
