This exclusive club has two eighteen hole regulation courses and a par 3 course. The eighteen hole courses are named the Nicklaus Course and the Dye Course, while the par 3 course is simply named the Par 3 Course. No outside play is allowed. Of the Nicklaus course, Greg Norman once said this course is the best layout Jack Nicklaus ever built. The design includes tree-lined fairways, water hazards and marshlands that come into play on twelve holes. The signature hole is #16, a 437-yard, par 4, which plays toward the Colleton River. "GOLF Magazine" named it 99th in the category of the "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." for 1995, and 83rd in 1997 and 95th in 1999. "GOLFWEEK" ranked it 46th among "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" for 1997, 62nd for 1998 and 67th for 1999. The Par 3 Course is great for beginners. This course features tree-lined fairways and water hazards coming into play on three holes. The longest hole measures 126 yards. There are no guest fees for this course. The latest course, designed by Pete Dye, is a links-style design that is located around a swamp next to the Colleton River. The front nine is tree lined, while the back has a links-style appearance. Wind on this course is always a factor. Perhaps the favorite hole on this course is #18, a 460-yard, par 4, featuring virtually every physical challenge imaginable. The hole calls for hitting a tee shot over a hill and staying clear of forty bunkers. Water comes into play on this hole, as does a large oak tree that anchors the hole. "GOLF Magazine" selected the Dye Course 99th among the "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." for 1999.
