US Highway 278 Hilton Head Island, SC 29910 p: 843.757.7715 This club opened its eighteen hole regulation course in 1996, and completed construction on another eighteen holes in 1998. The new East Course has a distinctively different personality than the West Course. During construction a tremendous amount of earth was moved and sculptured to create a course with dramatic elevation changes. The greens on this course are very undulating, and the fairways are considerably tighter than its sister course, making this course slightly more challenging. The West Course features numerous majestic oak and magnolia trees that can affect your shots. "GOLFWEEK" selected it 82nd among "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" for 1997, 43rd for 1998 and 51st for 1999. The fairways are rolling and tree lined, plus the greens are undulating. In addition, several superb water vistas are available for your viewing pleasure. Because there are five sets of tees available, the course is considered user friendly. The final ten holes play alongside either a forty-two acre freshwater chain of lakes or the saltwater swamps of the Colleton River. Water hazards come into play on at least half the holes. The Jim Feree Golf Learning Center is also located here and it includes a twenty-nine acre practice facility with back-to-back practice tees, covered hitting areas, video analysis, and three practice holes. |
